| Teaching American History: The Challenge of Freedom US Department of Education, Woodstock, IL (2006 - 2008) A three year project for history teachers, involving five school districts in Northern Illinois counties, six colleges and universities, ten local libraries and museums, and the Organization of American Historians, is using the Collaboratory to improve teacher content knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of traditional American history and our core values. The objective is to raise student achievement by increasing classroom instruction skills and improve the quality of content so the teachers can develop lesson plans that facilitate the transferring of knowledge. |

Area VI Mathematics and Science Partnership ISBE Mathematics and Science Partnership Program (2005 - 2007) This is a three year professional development initiative of the Regional Offices of Education (25, 2, 12, 20, 21, 30) in Southeastern Illinois to promote student achievement in mathematics and science. Each year, the MSP Design Team uses the Collaboratory to support teacher training and ongoing, online professional development and mentoring that is helping forty 7th ˆ 12th grade mathematics and science teachers build content knowledge and teaching skills. |

| The Illinois Virtual School (IVS) USDE Fund for the Improvement of Education (2004 - 2006). The Illinois Virtual School is a partnership with the Illinois Virtual High School and the Chicago Public Schools funded through the Illinois State Board of Education to develop and pilot a model for providing online learning opportunities for elementary school students. Learning modules were developed in the Collaboratory for 3-5 grade students. During the Summer 2006, participating teachers created their own learning modules to share in the Fall. |

Standards Based Curriculum Initiative (SBCI) The Chicago Public Schools Office of Standards-Based Instruction (OSBI) designed the Standards-Based Curriculum Initiative (SBCI) to lead, aid, and support classroom instruction through the standards-based curriculum alignment process. SBCI used the Collaboratory to support online professional development for teachers who created, shared and discussed standards based curricular activities developed in the Collaboratory using custom designed SBCI Web document templates. The Collaboratory Project offers an online eCourse CPS SBCI Sharing Lesson Plans for teachers and schools who would like to take advantage of the SBCI program on their own. |

Standards-Aligned Curriculum Initiative (SAC) The Standards Aligned Classroom Initiative is an ISBE funded program that provides training designed to help participants understand how to align classroom work and assessments with the Illinois Learning Standards. It provides school teams with tools and resources to continue the ongoing study of these areas back at their schools. During AY 2005 about fifty SAC coaches learned how to use the Collaboratory to mentor SAC Learning Teams from schools across Illinois. About 400 teachers then created and shared unit organizers and lesson plans in the SAC Nexus Community under the guidance of their Learning Team coach. |

National-Louis University Arts Integration and Education Projects
are an integrated set of components that together form a comprehensive learning program designed to improve the academic achievement of at-risk children and youth. They rest on the premise that integrated arts education taught within a community of learners, can improve significantly the academic and social development of students. The Galleries will show the planning, implementation, and resulting student work in this program of arts integrated with other academic subjects while celebrating the cultures of the students and their families. |
