Mr. Chleboun
As Mr. Chleboun states, "Oak Terrace School is a great place to be!  We have wonderful students, parents, staff, and community members from the areas of Highwood, Highland Park, and Fort Sheridan. Our standards of education are high and we work hard to meet the needs of all learners.
Our goal here at Oak Terrace is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that will enable each child to:
  • Gain self-esteem
  • Respect and celebrate diversity
  • Become an independent problem solver
  • Develop academic and social skills
  • When you first set foot in the new Oak Terrace School, you can tell that this is an environment that honors education and celebrates diversity.  Teamwork and collaboration are present at all grade levels. Technology facilitates instruction in all classrooms. Our state of the art media center and computer lab include the latest in technology, media, and literature. Classrooms are big, bright, and full of anxious learners. Our staff members provide children with a rich curriculum that helps prepare them for the ever growing and changing society.

Character really does count here at Oak Terrace!

Our programs include the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) program where students and staff practice Oak Terrace’s three expectations on a daily basis:
  • Be Safe
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Ready to Learn
  • In addition we have the:
    Jubilate Children’s Choir,
    Band,
    Orchestra,
    Homework Club,
    Student Council,
    5th Grade Patrol,
    After School Sports

Oak Terrace is designed in Prairie style architecture. The front is adorned with a winding walkway through ancient oak trees, hilly landscape, and the presence of the two original Romanesque pillars from part of the original Oak Terrace School. Not only is Oak Terrace a great looking school, but it’s also a great place to learn!"
