Oak Terrace Elementary
We studied the work of
artist Louise Nevelson during the creation of these found-object sculptures.
Each student built a small box out of balsa wood, then collected objects
to place in his or her sculpture. We discussed visual movement, space,
light, and shadow as we arranged the items. Once the items were glued in
place, students chose black, bronze, or white paint. Sculptures of
the same color were grouped together to make several larger finished sulptures.
