Fourth Grade Travel Agents
have been chosen to develop a travel brochure to attract visitors to your state. 

Your information and ideas will come from researching the encyclopedia, personal visits, travel agencies and state tourists boards. 

Task 1: Create the brochure using the following guidelines

Task 2. Develop an oral presentation of your brochure.

Side 1
Front cover
  1. State name-present in decorative style
  2. State nickname
  3. Draw a blank outline of your state. Within this outline, show the following: 
    • capitol in correct location
    • major products of the state-drawn and labeled (6-8)
    • state flower (outside of map)
    • state bird
  4. Your name in the lower right-hand corner
Side 2
Land and Climate
  1. Draw and label the land regions of your state, including lakes, mountain ranges, deserts, rivers, etc.
  2. List at least four facts about the climate of your state,. Be sure to include the record high temperature, record low, summer and winter average. 
Side 3
History of State
  1. Draw the state flag
  2. Show the date that it became a state at the top of this section
  3. Show the order in which it became a state in our fifty states.
  4. Draw and label 4 or 5 important events in the state's history in the correct time sequence.
 
Side 4
Travel Expenses
  1. Round-trip airfare from LAX
  2. Hotel room expenses per day and per week
  3. Food costs per day and per week
  4. Three or more reasons to live in your state.
 
Side 5
A Visitors Guide
  • Draw and label five important attractions and sites to visit.
  • Add pictures and materials from magazines or hand drawn.

    You are a spokes person for your state. In three to five minutes, try to entice your classmates to visit your state by including key parts of you brochure.

    The written and oral parts of your report will be combined for a social studies grade.
