Book Match is open to all Oak Terrace fifth graders who enjoy reading and competion. Students learn about 50 interesting new and not-so-new books, and choose some titles to read. In order to join an Oak Terrace team,
  • fifth graders must read 10 books and fill out a form for each book.
Students should print out the forms. Students are expected to keep reading after teams are formed.
Teams meet to compete at the Highland Park Public Library and the questions begin, "In what book...?"  Students have 30 seconds to let their spokesperson know the exact title of the book which answers the question.  The correct book title earns the team 5 points, and an additional point is awarded if the team can name the author. The other teams can steal a question if their opponents cannot name the correct title!
The list of 50 book titles used by District 112 is chosen by The Highland Park Public Library Youth Services Division. The district schools use the booklist prepared for BookMatch, and the questions used are written by the IMC Directors from District 112.
