Prerace Preparations

A musher changes the plastic runner on the bottom of his sled.

      
Dogs are anxiously waiting to be taken out of the truck so they can get
ready for the race and get some attention from all of the spectators.
They are so friendly and love people!
If you pet them and then start to leave,
they will put their paw on you wanting more affection.

The multi-breed dogs sometimes turn out with one blue eye and one brown eye.
 

Dogs are harnessed and attached to the gang line.
 
 

The dogs are so excited, each one needs its own man to hold it back from running until his/her time to start.
 

Musher, Bruce Lee, and his Idita-rider

Money is raised by Idita-riders who bid hundreds of dollars
to have the honor to ride in the musher's sled the distance of the ceremonial race to Eagle River.
When the mushers start the race in Wasilla on Sunday,
they will then fill their sled with supplies for their journey.

What do you thinik the mushers will take with them?
