Description of Institution
Lake Forest College was founded in 1857, the College is situated on a beautiful campus of over 100 acres in Lake Forest, but reaches out to the Chicago community in its curricular and extra-curricular life. Strong academic services are matched by strong student support services. Largely residential, the College welcomes commuter and adult students.

Lake Forest College is a nationally recognized liberal arts college offering the student a strong general education and close individual attention in small classes. The student/faculty ratio is approximately 10:1. The excellent faculty, drawn from the best graduate schools, is chosen for teaching excellence and scholarly productivity. A flexible liberal arts curriculum offers a solid foundation for the professions and business as well as for graduate academic training, and is supported by a strong internship program.

Academic Calendar
Fall and Spring: two fifteen week semesters; Summer: two sessions (intensive three-week session in May, and a seven-week session in June and July)

The college devotes substantial resources to providing generous financial aid for qualified students who demonstrate need. About 75% of the students receive aid.

Study Abroad

Students may study abroad in Lake Forest College's programs in Chile, Greece and Paris. In addition, LFC is a member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, a consortium of fourteen distinguished colleges such as Carleton, Grinnell, and Lawrence, through which students may participate in a wide range of off-campus study programs. These include programs in Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Italy, Hong Kong, India, Russia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and on in London - as well as half a dozen programs in the United States.
