Description of Institution
Established in 1969, Governors State University is an upper division university offering junior and senior-level courses and master's degree programs. Governors State has 172 full-time faculty, and serves a diverse student population of over 9,000 transfer and adult students each year in the region and throughout the country. The faculty specialize in teaching students who study part-time, often at a distance, while balancing job, family, and community responsibilities. The University has four colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business and Public Administration, Education and Health Professions.

Tuition & Fees
Tuition for 1997-1998 (for Illinois Residents taking 1-12 credit
hours): $87/credit hour(undergraduate); $92/credit hour (graduate). The tuition rate for on-campus courses for non-Illinois residents is three times the in-state rate.

Fees: Courses at the main campus: $85 mandatory fees; plus other
fees as appropriate. Extended Learning course fee: $10/credit
hour.

Academic Calendar
The university is on a trimester calendar with classes offered
throughout the entire year in 7 ½ and 15 week blocks.

main campus in University Park.

Degrees

Degree Programs at Governors State University Main Campus
Governors State University offers 20 undergraduate degrees in the humanities, natural and social sciences, business administration, computer science, education, communication disorders, health administration, nursing and social work. 23 degree programs are offered at the master's level. These degrees are offered at the University Park campus.

Distance Learning B.A. Degree Completion Program in Lake County
Students may complete the Board of Governors
Bachelor of Arts Degree program entirely at a distance through the Multi-University Center in Lake County.
