Most NSHEC Interactive Video Network classrooms are set up the same way. Follow the diagram and
points below to learn how our classrooms are arranged to provide effective remote-site instruction for students.
A. Student Camera: this camera can pan, tilt, and zoom in on individual students. B. Fixed Camera: this camera is locked into a set and provides a wider shot than the student camera. C. Instructor Camera: this camera can pan and zoom to the teacher. D. The Graphics Camera: will either be a standard document camera (as pictured here) or a ceiling mounted camera pointing down at the podium. Everything in the room is controlled from a touch screen monitor (M) on the podium. From here, cameras can be selected/aimed, audio levels can be adjusted, VCR's can be played, and local diagnostics can be performed. Click here for the Touch Screen Check List. Two omni directional microphones handle all audio. One sits on the podium and the other is suspended above the students. A third microphone may be installed in larger rooms. E. Left Monitors: The left pair of monitors shows the outgoing signal. F. Right Monitors: The right pair of monitors shows the incoming signal. Inside the podium (G,H,I,K,L) are two VCR's, a laser disk player, an audio cassette player, and a FAX machine. There is also a speaker phone that can be used as an emergency back-up in the event the T1 connection goes down. J. Computer: Finally, a computer is available as an auxiliary source and unassigned line inputs for connecting equipment not normally in the room.
