Description of Institution
Barat College, located in Lake Forest, is a private liberal arts college, which offers 22 undergraduate degree
programs and a master's degree in education. Our classes are deliberately kept small so faculty members can spend
time with each student. Barat students are encouraged to explore the intellectual range of the liberal arts in
order to develop the critical and analytical skills that will serve them well in a career or in graduate school.

1997-1998 Full Time Tuition: $12,570 annually
1997-1998 Room and Board: $4,966 annually
Part-time Tuition: $419 per credit hour

Campus and Location
Barat's campus is magnificent - thirty acres of lawn, woods, and ravines six blocks from Lake Michigan. Students
enjoy its special beauties in all seasons. Located in suburban Lake Forest, 29 scenic miles north of Chicago's
superb cultural life, Barat is easily accessible to O'Hare International Airport by the Continental Air Transport
bus and to Chicago by a commuter railroad. For students in search of a day or weekend outing, Barat is easily accessible
to the lakes and ski trails of southern Wisconsin.

Foreign study programs are open to students who have been enrolled full-time at Barat for at least two semesters.
Financial aid awards are applicable to these programs. Foreign study sites include the British Isles, continental
Europe, Africa, South Asia, and Latin America. Most programs involve home-stay arrangement in the host country.
New Majors
Beginning in 1997 Barat is offering two new majors on campus. Community Service /Sociology prepares students to
enter the world of NGO's and not-for-profit institutions. International Studies prepares students for graduate
study in International fields or for a career in the global arena.
