Now it is your turn. First, gather as many books as you can about Cinderella. Then, we can then go the the internet; talk to our parents and grandparents; and contact students in other schools, perhaps even other countries. After we have assembled several versions of Cinderella, we will read and discuss one version. We will think about what elements of fairy tales are present in the story. Elements may include: the beginning is, "Once upon a time"; magic events or characters are part of the story; one of the characters is evil; animals are often characters; and the ending often reads, "and they lived happily ever after." You and your group will choose a version of Cinderella from another country. You will read the book, discuss the story, and compare it to the story we read in class. You will then retell and illustrate the story in MediaSpace on the internet . Our final project will
be to write and perform an original version of Cinderella. This project
will also be shared on MediaSpace.
