Of course, life at Cook County Children's Hospital is not all work. We are as committed to your development as a person as we are to your development as a pediatrician. Consequently, you are guaranteed one day off a week and not expected to work more than 28 hours consecutively. Each year you receive four weeks vacation and one week of educational leave. Our department also enjoys informal gatherings: We have a picnic by the lake each summer, a potluck lunch replaces Noon Conference quarterly, and the interns get together socially after hours on a regular basis. The camaraderie among residents is continually cited as one of the strengths of our program. The bonds you form here will last a lifetime.
