The Chicago/Cook County Ambulatory Care Council

  Founded in 1991, The Chicago/Cook County Ambulatory Care Council, led by Ruth Rothstein, Chief, Cook County Bureau of Health Services, and Sheila Lyne, RSM, Commissioner, Chicago Department of Public Health, is a public/private partnership of health care providers, public officials and community residents who work together to assess community health needs and undertake initiatives to address those that are identified as most urgent.

In addition to its board of directors, the Council comprises five districts health councils, created to address the specific challenges and opportunities within each area:

West District Health Council
(Austin, West Garfield, Oak Park/River Forest and Proviso Township

Englewood District Health Council
(New City, West Englewood, and Englewood)

Greater Roseland District Health Council
(Roseland, Pullman, West Pullman, and Riverdale)

Northeast District Health Council
(Rogers Park, Uptown, Lincoln Square, Albany Park, and Edgewater)

Area 5 District Health Council
(Back of the Yards, Cicero, Berwyn, Pilsen, and Little Village)
