David Simpson received his PhD in English and Comparative Literature
at Columbia University and has served on the faculty in English and humanities
at Columbia and Northwestern. His background is in classical rhetoric and
Renaissance literature. However, his main current interest is in analyzing
the effects of new media and information technologies on teaching, on current
trends in public discourse and professional communication, and on traditional
methods of literary study. He has served as a consultant in business writing,
has taught in various writing programs and workshops, and has published
articles and reviews on cyberculture and electronic media. He has served
on the visiting faculty at SNL since 1990.
