Collaboratory CommunitiesThe Collaboratory Project

Collaboratory Communities enable people and organizations with common interests to collaborate on projects and share ideas, information, and expertise.

Sponsored Projects introduce newcomers to the Collaboratory by encouraging participation in an engaging collaborative project, alongside experienced Collaboratory users. The projects demonstrate the communication services and collaboration tools available in the Collaboratory and involve different grade levels, subject areas and communities.

Professional Development projects use the Collaboratory to provide on-line, ongoing professional development opportunities that facilitate discussions and mentoring to create a shared knowledge base of materials, experiences and best practices.

The Collaboratory has Partnerships with various cultural and
non-profit organizations to create innovative collaborative learning experiences for students and their communities.

ePortfolio   Everyone with a Collaboratory account has a personal ePortfolio! Teachers create the binders and folders that students use to organize and manage their work. Student work is created using well-designed Web document templates that support text, graphics, sound and video. Students can exchange comments with their teacher and discuss their work with classmates. Work can also be made public for people without Collaboratory accounts to view.

The Nexus is a Collaboratory resource that enables people with common interests to come together to establish interactive on-line communities. Nexus Communities are composed of work areas where members create, share and discuss each other's work created using Web-based document templates. Work is shared with others through galleries.
